Collection: The Abstracts

2023-

The Abstracts explores the raw, unspoken language of texture — where color steps back and texture steps forward. This series of abstract works is grounded in earthy, neutral tones: ivory, ochre, clay, charcoal, bone, and weathered gold. Through layered strokes, palette knife carvings, and sculptural buildup, these pieces invite the viewer to feel more than see — to sense stories held within the surface.

Each canvas becomes a topography of emotion, a sacred terrain etched with movement, memory, and meditative pause. The absence of color is intentional — it demands presence, reflection, and attention to shadow, crack, and depth. Texture becomes the voice of the piece — whispering grief, joy, resilience, and ancestral rhythm.

Influenced by natural elements - a nod to cracked earth, worn stone, mud cloth, and weathered walls — symbols of both time and survival.

This series is not about what is easily understood — it’s about what is felt, what resonates without explanation. It reminds us that some of the most powerful truths live not in words or figures — but in the sacred space between.
